Lucy is finally adjusting...

Little Lucy has not been very excited about Alex moving in. She sniffs and looks at his stuff with disdain. She is definitely a "mama's girl" and isn't happy that her territory is changing.

I was really worried about the transition, since she wouldn't stop barking at him the first night he was there. She had a look on her face like "what the hell is he still doing here?" He's spent tons of time with her, but he hasn't stayed at my house for more than a day.

It seems like she's finally adjusting and now likes him more than me. She used to cling to me all the time, but those days are definitely over.

Save the Date!

I ordered my Save the Dates and I am so excited to get them! Aren't they cute?

Here Comes the Bride

I apologize for the lack of posts over the past few weeks. Too much has been happening!

It finally happened - after 3 long years, Alex proposed. : ) Now, this is quite the story. On Monday, January 12th I came home from spin class to find him at my house. It's not unusual that he would be at my house, but he usually calls me before he comes over, so I found that a little odd. He said that he wanted to get dinner and he works right by my house, so he just came over. I told him that I needed to shower and change, since I just got home from the gym. He said that he was hungry and it didn't matter - we would just go somewhere casual.

So, off to the mystery location we went. I had a feeling that he was going to propose soon, since I knew he went to look at rings with his friend, Jeff. However, I figured he would do it on a weekend.

We ended up in Los Gatos and he said he wanted to eat at Andale's. It wasn't weird to me, because we eat there all the time. We had our first date there. So, I walked in and went up to the counter to order. He pulled me away and said he wanted to look at something out front. We walked down to the old movie theater and before I knew it he was down on one knee. I honestly can't really remember everything he said. I was in a daze. I remember him asking me to marry him and I said yes, but that's about it. It was perfect - he recreated our first date.

I told this story to Corene (my longtime friend from the law firm I worked at in college) and she nearly had a heart attack. Corene is always put together and never without makeup, even though she really doesn't need it. She said "I can't believe you got engaged in your GYM CLOTHES!" She is still having a hard time getting over it. So, that's now the running joke.

Stay tuned for many more wedding related posts. I'll get a picture of the ring up here - I promise!

San Francisco Zoo

Turtle

Penguins - they were really cute

Llama

Alex and his new friend

Contrary to the picture, that sheep did not like Alex.  She kept running away and she actually kicked a little kid who was pestering her.

Our friends from the Discovery Channel

Kangaroos - Alex is dying to go to Australia

All in all, we had a great time at the zoo.  Our favorite part was the children's area, where the petting zoo was.  It was really fun to get to interact with the animals and see all of the little kids who were beyond excited.

3 Long Wonderful Years

I can't believe it's been three years.  It seems like just yesterday I was getting ready for our first date.  I remember exactly what he was wearing and the nervous excitement I felt when he looked at me - I just knew in that moment that my life would always be better.

We decided to celebrate by spending the day in San Francisco.  Off to the zoo...

Bridal Extravaganza

Traci and I went to the Bridal Fair at the Santa Clara Convention Center today.  It was quite an experience...or not.  I would compare it to being attacked by the kiosk people at the mall (you know - fake hair, some nondescript lotion, etc.).  However, we were on a mission to get the info and get out of there as quickly as possible.

I am happy to report that we found an affordable catering/event company, and Traci is very relieved.  Affordable weddings do exist!

After the Bridal Fair, we went to David's Bridal to look at my dress choices, as well as some dresses Traci tried on in Southern CA.  I really like the three dress options that Traci provided.  I am deciding between the strapless one pictured above, and a halter style, which is really cute.  The color is much better in person, and it has a sheen to it, which makes it more glamorous.  : )

I must say that I was surprised by David's Bridal.  I have never actually been in the store, but always viewed it as a bit tacky (Traci had the same opinion).  Of course, the tacky stuff is displayed everywhere, but they also have a lot of good stuff - you just have to dig.
