The Oscars (aka - Brangelina ass kissing)

I have to say that this year's Academy Awards blew the past several years away. Yes, Hugh Jackman went overboard with the "Broadway" style of the show. However, isn't that better than the year after year routine of awkward jokes for 3 hours? Not to mention, Hugh Jackman has been the hottest host in my lifetime.

The set was also pretty amazing and the style of the montages, clips, nomination graphics, etc. was very refreshing. I think whoever planned that show should get an Emmy. Oprah doesn't need another one - just use hers.

THE TRIUMPHS
1. Heath Ledger winning best supporting actor (we all knew it was going to happen, but I still got chills). However, I was disappointed that his daughter wasn't there. I know that she's really young, but it's a once in a lifetime experience that she could have been a part of.

2. Sean Penn winning best actor - I couldn't have been happier. His performance was amazing and Milk was one of the best movies I've seen. I was getting really sick of Mickey Rourke winning all of the prior awards this season.

3. Slumdog Millionaire - again, we all knew it was going to happen. I felt so happy for the cast and crew of this "little movie that could". It was so well done and definitely had a unique story.

THE DISAPPOINTMENTS
1. ENOUGH WITH BRANGELINA ALREADY! We get it. They rule the world.
2. Penelope Cruz winning best supporting actress. I mean - come on! In comparison to Amy Adams or ANY of the nominees, she was just horrible. She did not deserve to win. I don't know who she's sleeping with on the Academy, but it's obviously benefiting her.

You may totally disagree with me, but I had to put my review out there. I am very sad that Awards season has come to a close.

He's Just Not That Into You...

So, I know I've fallen off the blogging planet, but now I'm back with a vengeance.  Now, for your reading pleasure, is Like Ok and Stuff's first movie review!

When I saw the first previews for He's Just Not That Into You I thought that there was no chance in hell that I would see it.  I absolutely hated all the hype around the book, so I figured the movie would be equally annoying.  I was SO wrong.  The movie was so freaking cute, I can't even stand it.

5 reasons why I LOVED this movie:

1.  Ginnifer Goodwin.  She is the new Reese Witherspoon in my opinion.  She is a brilliant comic actress and so good at portraying a character that everyone can relate to.  Plus, her hair is super cute in the movie.  : )

2.  Justin Long.  Ok, I know he's the Mac computer commercial guy, but I truly fell in love with him in this movie.  His dialogue with Ginnifer Goodwin was the best part of the movie.  

3.  Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck did not bug me at all.  They normally make me want to throw something at the screen, but they actually had chemistry.  

4.  The vignette nature of the film.  I really liked the ensemble cast.  It was a refreshing to have multiple stories going on at one time and they all connected in some way.  I haven't seen that approach since Love Actually (my favorite movie).

5.  It made me smile.  I laughed and felt happy so many times during the movie.  It was very relatable, and I think that's why it was so funny.  

The 1 thing that should have been cut out:

Scarlett Johansen!
